Job Summary:

Conduct legal research, analysis, and outreach on ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes legal issues in support of National Sea Grant Law Center projects.

Job Description:

The Law Fellow conducts legal research, writes articles, and prepares reports and other materials, under the supervision and direction of the National Sea Grant Law Center director. The Fellow also assists with the development of workshop/conference sessions, webinars, and other events hosted by the Law Center, and has the opportunity to present research findings at virtual and in-person workshops/conferences.

The Law Fellow provides high-quality legal research, analysis, and writing on ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes legal issues in support of the National Sea Grant Law Center's mission. This work includes, but is not limited to, researching legal authorities, including statutes, regulations, and case law primarily using online legal databases; conducting legal analysis to answer research questions; drafting original written content to summarize research findings, developing data management systems to collect and analyze relevant legal data to facilitate comparative analysis; and preparing and delivering oral presentations in virtual and in-person settings. 

Job Responsibilities:

A successful candidate must have a J.D. from law school accredited by the American Bar Association by starting date; strong law school academic records; relevant course and/or work experience and interest in one or more of the following - ocean/coastal, natural resources, environmental law; demonstrated ability to conduct legal research and writing.
