SALARY RANGE $21-$26 PER HOUR (D.O.E. of Lead/Camp Counselor)
This is a temporary seasonal full-time position, 40 hours per week, for the summer season, approximately late May (after Memorial Day) to the middle of August. Adventure camp dates are June - early August. Applicants must be 21 years or age or older.
JOB SUMMARY
Adventure Camp Counselors represents and maintains the standards of the Recreation Services Department by conducting and supervising outdoor and adventure type activities for youth ages, in a professional and risk managing manner. Spend your summer mountain biking, rock climbing, SUP/Kayaking, on the zipline, ropes courses, horseback riding, hiking, and more.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
• Supervises children in outdoor activities such as but not limited to mountain biking, rock climbing, river rafting, ropes course, horseback riding, etc. ensuring that children have fun and interact with others and vendors in an appropriate manner.• Ensures the safety of all children in program activities.• Prepares for daily events and leads group activities accordingly.• Collects appropriate paperwork, medical release forms, and all vendor waivers.• Answers inquiries from parents regarding program procedures and concerns about children.• Supervises all activities and provides transportation to and from.• Directs proper behavior and settles disputes.• Cleans up at the end of day for following day’s use.• Communicates clearly and effectively with Recreation Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years of age or older
Required or ability to obtain through Park City Recreation:• CPR certification• First aid certification.• Van Driver Certification
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting including mountains, parks, vehicles and around bodies of water.• The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.• Work is performed in outdoor settings, in all weather conditions including temperature extremes, and includes day shifts.• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low.
