Join our Team

Chevron is seeking a highly skilled Lead Advisor, Advocacy Communications, to join our Corporate Affairs team. This role is critical in shaping and executing communications strategies that influence public policy, regulatory, and reputational outcomes aligned with Chevron’s business objectives. The ideal candidate will excel at influencing and aligning internal stakeholders around the company’s public policy and advocacy communications strategy, while delivering compelling, high-impact content that advances our advocacy goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage expertise and familiarity of energy issues to identify, develop, and execute advocacy communications strategies that support enterprise-aligned policy and regulatory outcomes.
  • Lead campaign-style communications efforts to drive measurable impact on high-priority policy issues nationally and globally.
  • Coordinate with both internal and third-party creative teams to identify and craft compelling content for multiple channels, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with Chevron’s messaging.
  • Understand Chevron’s business objectives and partner with internal stakeholders (Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, Legal, and business units) to ensure coordinated and proactive advocacy efforts.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement with senior leadership to secure buy-in for advocacy strategies.
  • Work closely with the Chevron Advocacy Network to leverage their initiatives.
  • Measure and report on campaign performance, applying insights to optimize future efforts.
  • Build and leverage resource networks and partnerships – such as trade associations and coalitions - to enhance reach and impact.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines in all communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in communications, with a strong background in advocacy, public policy, or government affairs.
  • Deep knowledge of public policy and legislative processes and ability to translate complex issues into clear, actionable messages.
  • Proven experience running advocacy communications campaigns, including strategy development, execution, and measurement.
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinker and self-starter who brings innovative solutions to enhance communication reach and impact.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence across functions and senior leadership levels.
