Job Description
Civil Engineer III (Power Generation / Turbine Projects)Long-term contract Birmingham, AL Very competitive pay, time-and-a-half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem.Join a growing engineering team supporting large-scale gas turbine power projects, along with renewables and BESS. This role works closely with EPC partners and end clients to deliver turbine and power infrastructure supporting data centers and grid reliability.Requirements:
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering*
- 7+ years in civil design for industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
- Experience with power generation sites, substations, or large industrial facilities
- Background supporting EPC projects or working alongside EPC teams
- Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater, and site development
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks (or similar)*
- Knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC
- PE preferred; mentoring experience a plus
- Design civil systems for gas turbine and power generation sites (grading, drainage, access, erosion control)*
- Develop construction drawings and specifications aligned with equipment layouts*
- Coordinate with EPC partners, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams
- Review designs for code compliance and constructibility
- Support permitting, field activities, and issue resolution*
- Assist with MTOs, submittals, and project execution
- Mentor junior engineers and support multiple project schedules
- Strong understanding of power generation infrastructure (turbines, substations, BESS)*
- Experience with site/civil design and hydrology tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS or similar)*
- Familiar with permitting, environmental, and floodplain considerations
- Ability to produce efficient, constructible designs
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments
- Work directly on gas turbine projects (not just site work)
- Exposure to data center power demand, renewables, and BESS
- High-impact role supporting OEM + EPC collaboration
- Strong earning potential with OT + per diem*
- High-visibility work that goes straight to construction
- Travel as needed for site support
