Job Description

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Lead Coordinator, HSE – Process Safety MOC through May 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).  

Leads the implementation and day-to-day execution of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs, with primary ownership of the Management of Change (MOC) lifecycle from evaluation through startup and closure. This role stewards process safety risk, compliance assurance, metrics, audits, gap closure, verification and validation, and supports incident investigation and learning.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Stewards, coordinates, and ensures consistent implementation of PSM and HSE standards directly managed by PSM, including but not limited to Management of Change (MOC), Management of Organizational Change (MOOC), Bypassing Critical Protections (BCP), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and Process Safety Information (PSI).
  • Own day-to-day execution and health of MOC program, ensuring MOCs are properly categorized, evaluated by required SMEs, progressed through PSSR and Startup Approval without delay and closed within required timelines.
  • Manages and reports process safety-related metrics and consolidates other HSE and related metrics as needed.
  • Stewards PSRI safeguard and compliance assurance programs including conducting or facilitating self-assessments against HSE/PSM requirements.
  • Supports HSE/PSM and compliance audits, reviews and navigates potential findings, and drives gap closure and field verifications.
  • Supports process safety incident identification, investigations, and learning.
  • Promotes process safety culture – trains and mentors personnel at all levels on PSM obligations, risk management, and safe operating practices.
  • Leads process safety meetings and awareness campaigns to strengthen the culture of risk management and operational discipline.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline), or equivalent technical degree, or extensive refinery operations experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial operations with direct PSM or HSE experience, preferably in oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, or a similar high-hazard industry.  This includes familiarity with process unit operations and prior involvement in key PSM elements (e.g., MOC, PHA, QRA, facility siting, incident investigation, etc.).
  • Direct ownership or coordination of Management of Change (MOC) program, including: normal MOCs, emergency MOCs, temporary MOCs, Bypassing Critical Protections (BCP), Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Management of Organizational Change (MOOC).
  • Experience supporting regulatory requests, audits, and inspections requiring historical MOC data and traceability.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP requirements, and ability to interpret and apply these regulations in an operating plant context.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills. Proven ability to influence without authority, facilitate cross-functional teams, and mentor others in process safety matters. Ability to provide clear, directive guidance when MOCs are at risk of non‑compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced or supplemental training in process safety, risk management, or refinery operations.
  • PSM Program Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading PSM initiatives or programs. Experience implementing or improving HSE processes at a facility is highly valued.
  • Highly skilled in managing MOC records in VisiumKMS or similar system of record (SoR).

  • The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $120,300 - $206,400.
