Lead Custodian - Educational Facility

Are you an experienced cleaning professional ready to take the next step in your career? Jack's Maintenance Service is seeking a Lead Custodian to oversee the evening operations of a local educational facility.

This is a working lead position. You will be the "boots on the ground" leader-performing high-level cleaning tasks while directing a dedicated team to ensure students and staff return to a pristine learning environment every morning.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Quality Control

• Train & Coach: Provide hands-on guidance to new hires on equipment (buffers, scrubbers) and safety protocols.
• Site Inspections: Conduct nightly walkthroughs to guarantee high sanitation and security standards.
• Point of Contact: Act as the professional liaison between the facility administration and our custodial team regarding event setups and specialized needs.

Custodial & Facility Maintenance

• Perform comprehensive cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing) in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Manage supply inventory and submit requisitions to ensure the team has what they need.
• Coordinate and participate in furniture setups/teardowns for school events and meetings.
• Secure the facility at the end of the shift, including locking all points of entry and setting alarms.

Qualifications

• Experience: At least 1 year of professional janitorial experience (experience in large commercial or institutional settings preferred).
• Leadership: Minimum of 1 year in a Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent role is required.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) to coordinate with staff, report issues, and follow safety protocols.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of industrial cleaning chemicals and equipment (buffers, scrubbers, etc.).
• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active, including walking, bending, and twisting, for the duration of the shift.
• Requirements: Must pass an acceptable criminal background screening (required for school environment).
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
