A Little About the Role

As a Lead Data Engineer on the Data Platforms team, you will be a driving force behind Procare's data strategy—owning the technical vision and execution of our data infrastructure from end to end. This is a high-impact, highly visible role where you'll partner directly with executives, directors, and cross-functional leaders across Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Finance to translate business objectives into scalable data solutions that drive revenue and customer retention.

You'll operate as a true full-stack data engineer, spanning data ingestion, cloud infrastructure, transformation, data science, visualization, and AI engineering. We're looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, experiments boldly, and stays on the cutting edge of data technologies. You'll be empowered to shape how data creates measurable business value across the entire organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead end-to-end data solution development—from ingestion and infrastructure to transformation, modeling, visualization, and AI-powered products
  • Architect and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, including ECS Fargate, Glue, Athena, S3, AppFlow, and AppSync
  • Build and optimize data pipelines using dbt for SQL transformations, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and reliability
  • Develop data science models in Python to support predictive analytics, customer insights, and business intelligence initiatives
  • Create compelling data visualizations using Python Plotly and other tools to communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Pioneer AI engineering efforts, including context management, agentic frameworks, and AI-augmented workflows that enhance team productivity and business outcomes
  • Partner with executives and cross-functional leaders in Sales, Customer Success,
  • Marketing, and Finance to rapidly understand requirements and deliver impactful data products
  • Drive experimentation and innovation—research state-of-the-art methodologies, evaluate emerging technologies, and implement best practices across the data stack
  • Own automation, monitoring, and observability frameworks that ensure data pipeline quality, performance, and operational excellence
  • Mentor and elevate the team by creating documentation, reusable packages, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Context switch effectively across multiple business domains, balancing competing priorities while maintaining high-quality delivery

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years' of data engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling production data systems
  • 3+ years' of hands-on AWS cloud experience, including ECS Fargate, Glue, Athena, S3, AppFlow, and/or AppSync
  • Expert-level SQL skills, including optimization, performance tuning, and transformation frameworks (dbt strongly preferred)
  • Strong Python proficiency, with experience in data science modeling, scripting, and visualization (Plotly, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Exposure to AI/ML engineering, including LLMs, context management, agentic frameworks, or AI-augmented workflows
  • Exceptional communication skills—the confidence and presence to interface with executives, directors, and stakeholders across the organization
  • High curiosity and business acumen—ability to deeply understand both technical and business requirements and translate them into action
  • Resilience and adaptability—thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces experimentation, and learns new technologies quickly
  • Passion for staying cutting-edge—actively researches best practices, emerging tools, and innovations in the data and AI space
