Mechanical Lead Estimator
Office location – Frederick, MD

About the Hiring Company:
Our client, a mechanical contractor who provides top-tier HVAC services to both residential and commercial clients, is currently seeking an experience, professional and detail-oriented Mechanical Lead Estimatorto join their growing team.
As a Mechanical Lead Estimator, you will work closely with the Chief Estimator and operations teams to prepare detailed and competitive estimates for mechanical construction projects. This position plays a critical role in developing cost-saving strategies, evaluating constructability, managing bid processes, and mentoring estimating personnel.
This key leadership role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, building strong relationships with contractors and vendors, and helping drive successful project outcomes through innovation, collaboration, and strategic thinking. This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to client meetings, job site visits, and training.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in mechanical estimating and construction bidding required
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and estimating practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with Trimble AutoBid or similar software is a plus.
- Professional and clear communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong leadership, team collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Meticulous with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a demanding environment
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license (MVR reviewed per company insurance policy standards)
- Background Drug testing required
General Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates and bid proposals
- Develop innovative, cost-saving solutions and value engineering ideas
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, schedules, site logistics, and bid documents
- Perform detailed takeoffs and estimate reviews
- Ensure competitive pricing from mechanical subcontractors and vendors
- Attend job walks, scope reviews, and client meetings as needed
- Complete GC scope sheets and participate in bid reviews
- Collaborate with operations teams to identify constructability concerns
- Price change impacts and assist with project revisions
- Lead, mentor, and train estimating personnel
- Stay informed on current market conditions and industry trends
Compensation & Scheduled Overview:
- Annual Salary between $65K-$95K based on qualifications and experience. (Paid Weekly)
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Hybrid work available
- Occasional Saturdays / extended hours may be required to support project deadlines and objectives
