Job Description Summary

The lead Engineer, Generator Product Service will lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to Gas Power Engineering. This lead engineer will serve as a recognized expert in the services field, both internally and externally, partnering with customers and industry leaders. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy, for customer success.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technology contribution globally for generator technology and Electrical systems.
  • Lead root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact from initial investigation through the CAPA phase
  • Resolve in depth, technical issues in Generator technology and Electrical systems for customers timely and efficiently
  • Assure all component designs meet requirements for customers
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services operations, quality and design engineering to fulfill customer needs.
  • Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
  • Communicate progress across all levels of the organization, including plant operators and executive leaders.
  • Serve as a thoughtful leader in industry, at conferences, user groups, and customer events
  • Mentor and develop Generator and Electrical systems product service engineers
  • Travel to customer locations to:
  • Support customer technical review meetings and present recommendations to champion GE's commitment to technical solutions
  • Support unplanned/forced outages to meet availability goals
  • Provide commercial teams with technical support for sales and services proposal activities.
  • Author knowledge articles as well as customer communications, including: TILs (Technical Information Letter), PSSB (Product Service Safety Bulletin), PSIB (Product Service Information Bulletin), and Safety communications

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Generator Engineering and technology

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel 10 to 15% domestically and internationally on short notice
  • Must be willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution based on business need·

Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters degree in Engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, materials, or systems engineering, or MBA.
  • Six Sigma / Lean training experience
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Prior experience in a customer support/facing role; strong commercial mindset.  Anticipates customer needs and ensures that they are met
  • Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work, of cross- functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests and requirements clearly
  • Strong team building skills.  Ability to develop relationships across the organization to build loyalty and commitment. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to drive change across the organization, and with clients, using data and positive relationship building.
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of an organization and demonstrated leadership to pursue correct engineering actions in adverse conditions or situations

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
