Deviation Approval Process, Return Material Authorization Process, Quality Metrics & Reporting and Internal Audits & Compliance

Education / Training

College Degree, or High School Diploma with 2 years experience working with customers / suppliers and external contacts.

Key Job Elements

Customer Issue Response, Investigation, Containment, and Sorting

  • First point of contact for all customer initiated quality notifications,
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment, initial investigation, and responses to Customer NCMs.
  • Ensure timely internal and external containment actions. Prevent repeat occurrences until corrective actions can be implemented.
  • Issue internal Quality Alerts, monitor NCMs, and research history
  • Coordinate 3rd Party inspection, sorting, and rework activities at CAT Decatur.
  • Issue Coupa requisitions for related service payments and ensure proper documentation.

Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) / Go See Acts (GSA)

  • Complete Customer Corrective Action Requests (CARs) in a timely manner.
  • Initiate internal CAPAs in response to confirmed escapes and track progress to closure.
  • Coordinate, Lead, and Conclude Go-See-Act events related to escapes; schedule, document, and drive effective resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, Maintain and update all NCM related issues, GSAs, and CAPA.

Production Part Approval Process

  • Manage the administration of PPAPs. New PPAPs,

Submissions, Approvals, and Interim Approvals.

  • Coordinate teams to ensure PPAPs are executed to plan (Ops, QA, Engineering)

Deviation Approval Process

  • Coordinate and track all Progress Rail Winston Salem (PRWS) deviations through the CAT deviation system. Ensure Deviations information is complete, submitted, and responded to in a timely manner.

Return Material Authorization Process

  • Verify RMA information is complete for both Rail and CAT customers, submit RMA requests and monitor through the ETQ system(s).
  • Coordinate, Lead, and Conclude Go-See-Act events related to returned material to salvage parts.

Quality Metrics & Reporting

  • Compile and deliver monthly Quality Metrics, including Parts Per Million (PPM) and Defects Per Unit (DPU), to management.

Internal Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct internal LPA (Layered Process Audits), Packaging Audits, ABBS audits, 5S audits and others as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and customer quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Role maintaining thorough documentation with attention to detail. Highly experienced with computer, Microsoft office, and spreadsheets. Mechanical aptitude and understanding. Previous roles focused on customer quality, internal quality, inventory, data entry, and data analysis

Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Understand customer blueprints and specifications.
  • Excellent computer skills: Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams, SharePoint
  • Able to learn and utilize all aspects of Customer and Internal Software Programs; including but not limited to: Supplier Connect, LN, QDAS, IPREP, Coupa, PRS ETQ,

Written and Verbal communication and professionalism

  • Ability to manage multiple urgent priorities simultaneously
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the Quality Management System (including items outlined above)

Knowledge and Understanding of GD&T, Blue Prints, Specifications, Gauging and Measurements

  • Effective cross functional coordination and facilitation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work "hands-on", and walk across the facility multiple times each day as needed.
