Job Description

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation: $31.00 – $33.00 per hour

Location: In-Person (North Central San Diego, South San Diego)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

As a Mental Health Social Practitioner (MHSP), you will support individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) through a recovery-oriented, community-based model rooted in the Clubhouse philosophy—where “community is therapy.”

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Duties & Staff Support

  • Serve as a direct resource and mentor for the Mental Health Social Practitioner team.
  • Assist the Program Manager with onboarding, training, and orienting new staff to the Clubhouse model.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback to Practitioners on engagement strategies and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Manager to maintain accountability, performance standards, and quality of care delivery.
  • In the absence of the Program Manager, act as the point of contact for operational and member-related decisions.

Member Engagement & Support

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with Clubhouse members.
  • Orient new members to the Clubhouse philosophy, work-ordered-day structure, transitional employment, and other Clubhouse opportunities.
  • Facilitate daily Clubhouse activities aligned with the work-ordered day, working side-by-side with members to operate all program functions 
  • Support members in achieving goals related to housing, employment, education, and wellness.
  • Provide advocacy and de-escalation support during challenging or crisis situations.

Program Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure program activities remain aligned with Clubhouse International standards and evidence-based practices.
  • Co-facilitate and ensure preparation and timeliness of regularly scheduled program meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and Medi-Cal compliant member records, completing necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Monitor documentation accuracy and timeliness among Practitioners, providing guidance to ensure Medi-Cal compliance.
  • Assist the Manager in tracking member engagement, participation metrics, and program outcomes.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment.

Employment & Education Support

  • Support transitional and supported employment placements alongside Practitioners.
  • Assist members with job readiness, applications, and training.
  • Foster relationships with employers and education providers.

Community Engagement & Social Programming

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Clubhouse program at provider meetings and coordinated care efforts alongside the Manager.
  • Model positive relationships and foster a culture of collaboration and support.
  • Participate in social, wellness, and outreach activities.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site full-time in San Diego locations
  • Ability to participate in occasional evenings, weekends, or events
  • Valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Ability to attend required Clubhouse training and program-related trainings 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals living with serious mental illness or related populations
  • Previous experience mentoring, training, or supporting staff strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of mental health practices, recovery models, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience with Medi-Cal documentation and behavioral health systems preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and engagement skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Must be proficient in technology, including documentation systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles
  • Bilingual preferred
