Lead Mitigation Technician
Reports To: Project Manager / General ManagerLocation: Paul Davis Restoration of Downriver DetroitJob Type: Full-Time | Field-Based | On-Call Rotation Required
Primary Goal
Own the successful execution of emergency mitigation services: water, fire, mold, and storm damage.
You will lead the field response, run jobs on-site, and set the standard for:
  •  Technical execution
  •  Documentation
  •  Customer communication
  •  Compliance with insurance and industry requirements
This role exists to ensure jobs start strong, stay on track, and finish right—especially under pressure.
You are not just running jobs. You are helping establish how mitigation gets done here from day one.
Mitigation is the core of this position. Everything else supports it.
What We’re Looking For
This is not a basic technician role.
We are looking for someone with real-world mitigation experience who is ready to step into (or continue growing in) a leadership role inside a startup environment.
You’re the type of person who:
  •  Shows up when things are messy, urgent, and inconvenient
  •  Doesn’t need to be told what to do next
  •  Takes pride in doing the job the right way, not the easy way
You understand this work isn’t always clean or predictable. It involves long days, after-hours calls, and difficult environments. That’s part of the job.
At the same time, you respect that restoration is a regulated industry. Insurance requirements, IICRC standards, and company processes matter—even if they differ from how you’ve done things before.
If you want to help build something, not just clock in, you’ll do well here.
What You’ll Do
  •  Respond quickly to emergency losses and lead on-site mitigation work
  •  Perform inspections, demolition, moisture mapping, extraction, and equipment setup
  •  Ensure proper containment, PPE use, and safety procedures
  •  Maintain accurate and timely field documentation (DASH, Xactimate, Docusketch, or similar)
  •  Coordinate with ownership and leadership when scope, documentation, or carrier requirements impact execution
  •  Lead and train mitigation technicians, delegate tasks, and enforce quality standards
  •  Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours response
  •  Assist with cleaning, contents handling, or estimating when needed
How You’ll Lead (Important)
  •  You are expected to take ownership and act decisively in the field
  •  You will be trusted to make real-time decisions without being micromanaged
  •  You must collaborate when insurance standards or company processes require a specific approach
  •  You lead by example—through work ethic, professionalism, and consistency
This is not a lone-wolf role.
If you need to do everything your way or struggle to follow required processes, this will not be a fit.
What You Bring
  •  Strong hands-on mitigation experience (water, fire, mold, storm damage)
  •  Ability to lead a small crew with calm, professionalism, and accountability
  •  Comfort with documentation systems (DASH, Xactimate, Docusketch, or similar)
  •  Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles
  •  Comfortable driving company vans and transporting crew/equipment
  •  IICRC certifications are a major plus (WRT/ASD, FSRT preferred)
  •  Reconstruction or trade experience (drywall, paint, carpentry) is a bonus
  •  Willingness to be on-call and respond after hours
  •  Ability to lift 75 lbs and work in physically demanding environments
Why Join Paul Davis Restoration of Downriver Detroit
We are a new franchise backed by a national brand, building something from the ground up in a strong, blue-collar market.
This is not a fully built machine you’re stepping into. This is an opportunity to help build it.
  •  Your voice will matter
  •  Your standards will shape how we operate
  •  Your leadership will directly impact the team and the customer experience
If you’re looking for a place where you can grow, take ownership, and be part of something early—this is that opportunity.
If you’re just looking to clock in and collect a paycheck, this is not the role.
What We Offer
  •  Competitive hourly pay with overtime
  •  Clear opportunity to increase earnings as responsibility grows
  •  Paid training and support for IICRC certifications (with tenure)
  •  Leadership development and real career growth
  •  On-call rotation with flexibility when possible
  •  A team-first environment with clear expectations and strong standards
Our Values
  •  Deliver what you promise
  •  Respect the individual
  •  Have pride in what you do
  •  Practice continuous improvement
If you’re ready to lead mitigation work, handle pressure, and help build something the right way from the start, we encourage you to apply.
