Job Description

Lead Recycling Technician - 1st Shift | Groveport, OHAre you passionate about sustainability and creating a safer, more efficient workplace? We're looking for an Environmental & Recycling Lead to support and improve our recycling and waste management programs while helping drive our environmental initiatives forward.In this role, you'll partner with teams across the facility to promote sustainability, ensure compliance, and identify opportunities to improve our environmental impact.What You'll DoAs our Environmental & Recycling Lead, you'll be responsible for coordinating and supporting waste and recycling operations while helping advance our environmental goals.Key Responsibilities

Lead daily recycling and waste management activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.Coordinate the collection, handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, and recyclable materials in compliance with all applicable regulations.Serve as a resource and mentor for Recycling Technicians, helping drive safety, productivity, and operational excellence.Identify opportunities to improve processes, equipment, and workflows that enhance efficiency and sustainability.Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Facilities, Operations, and other departments to reduce waste, lower costs, and minimize environmental risk.Support company sustainability initiatives and help implement programs that promote environmental responsibility.Participate in environmental audits, inspections, and corrective action efforts to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.Coordinate outgoing shipments and logistics with transportation vendors and internal teams.Monitor inventory levels of operational supplies such as drums, totes, labels, and other materials needed to support daily activities.Maintain recycling and waste storage areas and ensure equipment remains safe and operational.Assist with routine maintenance activities and coordinate service providers when repairs or preventative maintenance are needed.Maintain accurate records, manifests, audit documentation, SOPs, and other required environmental documentation.Champion a culture of safety by identifying opportunities for improvement and helping create a safe working environment for all employees.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.2+ years of experience in environmental waste management, recycling operations, or a related field.2+ years of forklift operating experience.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred QualificationsCandidates with any of the following certifications are highly encouraged to apply:

RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management CertificationOSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Certification40-Hour HAZWOPER CertificationDOT Hazardous Materials Management Certification

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

Knowledge of environmental regulations, waste management practices, and recycling processes.Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safe work practices.Experience working in regulated manufacturing or GMP environments.Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.Ability to operate forklifts, drum handlers, and related equipment.Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting and repairs.

Work Environment

Climate-controlled warehouse and manufacturing environment.Combination of computer-based work and active movement throughout the facility.Regular interaction with forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial equipment.Appropriate PPE is provided and required when handling materials and performing operational activities.Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
