Job Position: Lead Security Technician
Location: San Antonio, TX 78204
Pay Rate: $25.00-$30.00/hr
Description: Position OverviewTradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Lead Security Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, and commission commercial electronic security systems throughout the San Antonio area. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and IP-based security systems, along with the ability to lead field installation crews on active construction sites.
• Responsibilities• Lead installation and commissioning of commercial access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.• Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling.• Program and configure access control panels, door controllers, card readers, and security management software.• Install and commission IP cameras, NVRs, VMS platforms, and video analytics systems.• Troubleshoot IP connectivity issues including VLANs, PoE devices, TCP/IP addressing, and network communication faults.• Perform system startup, testing, inspections, and final customer acceptance.• Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and construction documents.• Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, electricians, and customers throughout project lifecycle.• Maintain accurate as-built documentation, programming backups, and testing reports.• Train and mentor junior technicians while ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.• Ensure all installations comply with NEC, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
• Required Qualifications• 5+ years of commercial electronic security installation experience.• Experience leading security installation crews on commercial projects.• Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.• Proficiency with IP networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, PoE, VLANs, DHCP, and DNS.• Experience with structured cabling installation and termination.• Ability to read construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.• Experience with system commissioning and troubleshooting in live environments.• Valid driver s license with a clean driving record.• Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on active construction sites.
• Preferred Qualifications• Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, Genetec, Software House CCURE, Avigilon, Milestone, Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, Verkada).• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.• Experience with enterprise-level integrated security systems.• Experience working on healthcare, education, industrial, or data center projects.• Lift certification.
