Pay Rate: $28.00 $40.00+ /hrPosition OverviewTradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Lead Security Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, and commission integrated electronic security systems for commercial and industrial customers. This role requires a highly technical professional capable of leading field installations while ensuring projects meet manufacturer specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.Responsibilities Lead installation and commissioning of enterprise access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and intercom systems. Program and configure access control platforms including card readers, controllers, and door hardware. Install, terminate, label, and test CAT5e/CAT6, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling. Configure and troubleshoot IP-based security devices, PoE switches, VLANs, TCP/IP addressing, and network communications. Install and commission IP cameras, NVRs, video analytics, and video management systems. Perform system diagnostics, firmware updates, and software upgrades. Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical specifications. Conduct system testing, inspections, and final customer acceptance. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues in the field. Coordinate with project managers, customers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project completion. Maintain accurate as-built documentation, programming backups, and service records. Train junior technicians on installation standards and best practices. Ensure all work complies with NEC, local codes, and manufacturer installation requirements.Required Qualifications 5+ years of commercial electronic security installation experience. Experience leading installation teams on commercial security projects. Strong knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and PoE. Proficiency with enterprise access control and video surveillance platforms. Experience terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling. Ability to read construction drawings and electrical schematics. Experience with system commissioning and troubleshooting. Knowledge of low-voltage installation standards and NEC requirements. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in construction environments.Preferred Qualifications Manufacturer certifications such as LenelS2, Genetec, Software House CCURE, Avigilon, Milestone, Axis, Bosch, Hanwha, or Verkada. Fiber optic termination and testing certification. Lift certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
