Long-term contract in Birmingham, AL. Very competitive pay, time and a half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem. Join this fast-growing design engineering firm (will double in size in the next 18 months), supporting the design of simple-cycle gas turbine plants. They will make you feel a part of this passionate team with little extras like company-provided lunch weekly, and free snacks/drinks all day, every day. Your input will be heard and valued!Requirements:

B.S. degree in structural engineering or similar*
815+ years in structural design engineering for power generation or heavy industrial*
Background in EPC project environments*
Design experience with reinforced concrete, structural steel.*
Experience with structural analysis software (GTStrudl, ANSYS, etc.)*
Ensure compliance with AISC, ACI, ASCE, and local codes*
Background in mentoring junior engineers*
PE License a plus, not required

Responsibilities:

Serve as a Lead Structural Design Engineer for simple cycle power generation projects *
Create and review calculations, drawings, and models; lead design reviews and technical discussions*
Mentor junior structural engineers*
Assist construction with field issues and design clarifications*
Ensure constructability and safety of all designs*
Support procurement with material specifications*
Participate in project scheduling and constructability reviews

Skills needed: Strong knowledge of the International Building Code and related standards (ASCE, AISC,ACI). Proficiency in structural analysis software and interpreting results. Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit & Navisworks).
