Job Description
Lead Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Mechanic to oversee truck maintenance operations and help drive fleet efficiency and reliability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader and be willing to lead, develop, and motivate Truck Mechanics while coordinating preventive and repair maintenance schedules to ensure safety and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives while working in a fast-paced environment.

- Create work assignments to meet operational schedules and maintenance priorities
- Generate, maintain, and repair maintenance schedules for fleet equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and serve as a technical resource for mechanics
- Collaborate with other supervisors/departments to coordinate maintenance schedules
- Ensure computer diagnostic equipment is current and operational
- Maintain and inspect tools/shop equipment and purchase parts/materials for equipment repairs
- Enforce policies and safety regulations and quality procedures through observation and audits
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Implement and sustain process improvement to equipment performance, reliability, and usage
- Provide team members with appropriate information and resources to perform their jobs
- Follow up on issues and requests in a timely manner
- Provide effective communication to peers and navigate productive team meetings
- Assist with hiring activities and provide hiring recommendations
- Mentor, train, and develop mechanics timely and offer constructive performance feedback
- Treat associates with respect, fairness, and professionalism and address employee situations appropriately and professionally
- Hold self and team members accountable for performance and behavior through leading by example while promoting a positive work environment
- Analyze and resolve workplace challenges by improving processes and removing barriers
- Document information by entering data and tracking activity to help support business decisions
- Perform other duties of a Truck Mechanic as needed
To thrive in this role, you must...
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2–5 years of diesel mechanic or fleet maintenance experience
- Strong leadership and team development skills with previous leadership or supervisory experience
- CDL-A License & Certification in brake repair
- Diesel mechanic certification and/or experience with Class 8 trucks required
- Technical competence in diesel and heavy truck maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
- Working knowledge of maintenance systems and diagnostic equipment
