Job Description

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Accounting, in the Leon Hess Business School, for the 2026-2027 academic year and is a one-year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit. The department encourages and supports dynamic interaction between faculty and students. Faculty members contribute as leaders in the profession through research and community activities.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in Accounting or a Master’s degree in Taxation or a completion of all graduate work toward a terminal degree in Accounting or related field with the exception of a thesis or dissertation (ABD status) to be completed within one year of appointment as Lecturer.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong record of excellence in teaching, research, and service commensurate with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) international standards.
  • Ability to maintain at least Instructional Practitioner (IP) or Practice Academic (PA) status as defined by AACSB.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Expected to teach 12 credits at the graduate and/or undergraduate level per semester in auditing, managerial, tax, and financial accounting courses (including intermediate and advanced financial accounting).
  • Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
  • Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
  • Maintain disciplinary currency.
  • Serve on School/University committees.
  • Advise students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
