The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science at the University of Miami is seeking to hire a Lecturer and academic coordinator for a novel hybrid online marine conservation track within our Master of Professional Science (MPS) program. This MPS track will offer ¾ of its curriculum online, allowing students who cannot re-locate to Miami the opportunity to enroll in our graduate program. Like the existing Marine Conservation MPS degree, the new program will provide students with advanced training in conservation, biology/ecology, restoration, and management, as well as the practical skills needed to begin a career in these fields, including communication and outreach. The successful candidate will remotely (online) advise and mentor graduate students by assisting with enrollment, program matriculation, serving on or chairing MPS committees, and assisting with internship and post-graduation job placement. The candidate is expected to teach existing graduate courses in online format, as well as develop and teach new online graduate courses in marine conservation, science communication, and marine management/policy. In collaboration with the Associate Dean and MPS Program Director, the candidate will be expected to keep the track relevant to industry needs and serve as academic coordinator for the online hybrid Marine Conservation Track in the MPS program.

A Ph.D. in marine conservation science or closely-related field and previous research and graduate-level teaching experience in these fields is required.

Applicants must have experience teaching at the University level, preferably in online/remote synchronous and asynchronous formats. Candidates should be comfortable providing public presentations and communicating their work to the public through various media and social media platforms. The successful candidate must have well-established professional connections with local, regional, and national academic institutions, NGOs, and government entities. Applicants should have strong communication skills and be familiar with using social media as outreach tools.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and separate statements of research and teaching interests, as well as the names and contact information of at least three references. The position will remain open until filled, but to receive full consideration, applications should be received by August 15, 2026. We anticipate conducting interviews in September.

The University of Miami is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Applicants and employees are protected from discrimination based on certain categories protected by Federal law.
