About the Department of Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver aims to prepare diverse students for successful careers in food, nutrition, and dietetics by providing quality education that is culturally sensitive and instills a desire for lifelong learning. This department is home to award-winning faculty and staff, who prioritize students and provide opportunities to grow and learn in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The Department of Nutrition houses undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master of Science in Nutrition. The Department is also home to accredited programs, including undergraduate and graduate-level Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD), a Dietetic Internship Program, and a Pathway Two Lactation Training Program. Position Summary

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver seeks to hire one part-time faculty lecturer position (0.5 FTE) to teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Nutrition and Dietetics beginning Fall 2026. The lecturer position will teach 15 credit hours per academic year as needed. The faculty will be an integral member of the Department of Nutrition and will be required to follow those responsibilities outlined in the MSU Denver Faculty Employment Handbook. This is an in person, on campus lecturer position beginning August 2026.

Responsibilities

Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours (or equivalent) per academic year. The successful candidate is expected to teach human nutrition and clinical dietetics and/or research courses as needed by the department. Teaching will be in the classroom and online and may also include teaching evening courses.

Maintain 2.5 office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban non-traditional population that includes U.S. ethnic minorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Food & Nutrition, Food Science/Technology, Public Health Nutrition or other Nutrition-related fields

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and at least 2 years of work experience in nutrition practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience at the college level and experience with teaching in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online synchronous, online asynchronous)
  • Earned doctorate
  • 3 or more years of work experience in nutrition practice

Salary for Announcement

This is a .5 FTE position. The salary range for this .5 FTE faculty position is $30,000 - $35,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, discipline, specialty, and training.
