Job Description

LEGAL AND COMPLIANCE ANALYST

As a Legal and Compliance Analyst, you will primarily support SpaceX’s Starlink broadband internet business as part of the team responsible for ensuring compliance with global law enforcement response, cybersecurity, and data privacy requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Starlink’s response to demands from law enforcement agencies and compliance with privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations around the world
  • Assist with the development and execution of processes to efficiently accept, assess, process, respond to, and record legal demands from law enforcement agencies
  • Advise, educate, and train internal stakeholders and employees
  • Support other legal functions, including litigation, contract management, and general legal and regulatory compliance

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 1+ years of experience related to law enforcement response, cybersecurity, or privacy legal issues (internships and academic experience will be considered)

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal analyst or paralegal in a law firm or in-house setting supporting cybersecurity, privacy, law enforcement, or other legal/regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues facing telecommunications or internet service providers, particularly related to law enforcement response, privacy, and cybersecurity
  • Experience working directly with government agencies and regulators
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language proficiency
  • Active U.S. government security clearance, or ability to obtain one if required. Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in Washington, DCand requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Legal and Compliance Analyst/Level I: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00/per yearLegal and Compliance Analyst/Level II: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.   • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
