Job Description

A well-established professional services firm is seeking a Legal Assistant with strong document and formatting expertise to support attorneys in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to attorneys and legal staff on active litigation matters
  • Draft, format, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
  • Create and manage Tables of Contents (TOC) and Tables of Authorities (TOA)
  • Troubleshoot and correct complex document formatting issues
  • Assist with document production, cleanup, and finalization under tight deadlines
  • Support legal assistants with overflow work and time-sensitive requests
  • Coordinate and manage multiple assignments in a shared team environment
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professionalism across all documents
  • Assist with onboarding and training staff on document formatting best practices
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Assistant, or Document Specialist
  • Strong litigation experience supporting attorneys
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (this will be assessed during the interview process)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Complex document formatting
    • Styles, headers/footers, and large documents
    • Table of Contents (TOC) and Table of Authorities (TOA)
  • Experience with document management systems (iManage or similar)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Best Authority or BigHand is a plus
