Legal Assistant/ParalegalLocation: Lake Oswego & Hybrid (1 day WFH).  6 hours/Day plus one Friday/Month.Company Overview & culture:Our Client law firm is a respected provider of legal services, offering counsel and representation across a diverse range of practice areas. The practice is a very busy estate planning, trust administration, probate and estate tax/gift tax return practice.  People frequently die, get dementia – this makes the schedule/work flow sometimes unpredictable.  Elderly clients can be deaf and hard to talk with on the phone.   Person answering the phone needs to know that people call to say loved ones have died, or their spouse is dying, etc.  So person needs some poise and grit to deal with those sad calls.  

They prefer a friendly helpful yet professional telephone/client demeanor for my paralegal/legal assistant.   No chatty kathies, no cool unapproachable cucumbers.  And no drama llama – leave that at home.

The hourly 1099 rate will be dependent on experience – starting at $30 per hour, plus paid holidays (providing the holidays fall on the day the person would be working).  Meaning if they choose Monday, Wednesday and Thursday – if Christmas falls on a Wednesday, they will pay for that day.

The Owner is an exacting person – She runs a very profitable solo practice.  If the person is a contributor, she is generous.

What you will focus on:As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys with a variety of legal tasks and responsibilities. You will be an integral member of our team, contributing to the firm's success through your exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle complex legal matters with professionalism and efficiency.Hard skills you need to be successful:- Conduct legal research and analysis to assist attorneys in preparing for cases, transactions, and client meetings- Draft and format legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and correspondence- Manage and maintain electronic and physical filing systems to ensure the organization and accessibility of important documents- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties to gather information and provide updates on case progress- Coordinate schedules, arrange meetings, and provide general administrative support to the legal teamQualifications:- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and legal software applications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
