Job Description
Speaks Law Firm is looking for a Balance Clerk to provide administrative support to all departments within the organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records in our case management system (CSM). This is an on-site position in our Charlotte office and hours of work are Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30. Visit speakslaw.com to learn more about us!No phone calls or recruiter emails please. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Review and analyze account balances, including liens, medical bill statements, health insurance payments and adjustments, and client payments
- Communicate with debt collection companies and secure account numbers and payment instructions as needed
- Subrogation, to include setting up health insurance liens, requesting liens every 30-60 days and entering this information into CSM
- Verify and process invoices related to expenses and enter information into CSM
- Manage and maintain accurate balance sheets – update balances, costs, and lien information
- Respond to inquiries from insurance adjusters, providers and other parties regarding account balances and distribution
- Assist with the preparation of provider reduction requests and settlement distributions
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality of client financial information
- Collaborate with attorneys, case managers, and other support staff as needed
- Attend weekly and biweekly meetings as scheduled
- Other clerical duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in business administration or related field of study preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience in general office work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Intermediate computer skills, experience with SmartAdvocate a plus
- Understanding of legal language and principles, and other related processes
