Join a High-Performing Legal Team We’re looking for a detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join our team in New York City. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with strong potential for long-term growth. What You’ll Do
Billing & Client Accounts
- Own the full client billing lifecycle—from pre-bill review to final invoice submission using CaretLegal and/or Timeslips
- Edit, review, and generate accurate, client-compliant invoices
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure timely and precise billing
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and client inquiries with professionalism
- Manage high-volume, complex billing while adhering to firm policies and client guidelines
Matter & Document Management
- Set up and maintain client, matter, and timekeeper records in internal systems
- Process time entries and cost charges accurately
Accounts Receivable & Financial Support
- Track payments and ensure timely processing
- Monitor aging reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances
- Resolve invoice disputes and payment issues efficiently
- Support month-end closing and reporting activities
- Provide ad-hoc financial insights to partners, clients, and internal teams
- Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in legal billing, preferably within a law firm environment
- Familiarity with CaretLegal and/or Timeslips is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in accounts receivable and billing processes
