Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Practice Assistant (LPA) in the Washington, DC office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and business professionals.

The Legal Practice Assistant (LPA) provides administrative, organizational, and client service support to attorneys and paralegals within a transactional practice. Serving as a key point of coordination among clients, legal professionals, and internal business teams, the LPA plays an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the practice and the successful execution of transactional matters. Responsibilities include document preparation and management, client communications, calendar and meeting coordination, matter management, and transactional deal support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities, build strong working relationships, and deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with attorneys and paralegals to provide high-quality administrative and client service support across a broad range of transactional matters.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and manage legal documents, correspondence, and other client-facing deliverables with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support transactional matters by coordinating document workflows, tracking deadlines, and assisting with the efficient progression of client work.
  • Serve as a key point of coordination among clients, attorneys, paralegals, and business professionals, helping to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, travel arrangements, and other practice-related activities while supporting efficient workflow and matter progression.
  • Monitor deadlines, maintain matter files and records, and support matter management to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with client and matter onboarding, including conflicts requests and maintaining accurate client and matter information in firm systems.
  • Support time entry, billing, expense reimbursements, vendor invoices, and other administrative functions that support the practice.
  • Assist with business development and client relationship initiatives, including preparing materials and coordinating client meetings and events.
  • Build effective working relationships across the firm while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Take ownership of assignments, manage competing priorities, and support special projects and other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Two to five years of administrative experience, preferably within a law firm, legal department, or professional services environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to work effectively in a global and client-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting attorneys and/or paralegals in a transactional legal practice.
  • Experience with Aderant, iManage, Chrome River, or similar legal technology platforms.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Certifications/ Licenses

  • Notary Commission a plus.

This is a hybrid role and will require on-site presence 3 days per week. The salary ranges for this position vary depending on the geographic location and other factors such as experience, internal equity, market data, and job-related considerations. The range for this position is from $60,000 - $80,000, with offers contingent upon the various factors.
