Receptionist / Administrative Assistant
Pay Rate: $20.00 $23.00/hour Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:30 PM Location: Reston, VA Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking a professional, customer-focused Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to provide front desk, telephone, meeting room, hospitality, and general administrative support in a professional office environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and communication skills, experience with Microsoft Office, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Previous experience in a law firm or legal office environment is a plus but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet visitors, clients, and employees and provide a professional and welcoming front desk experience.
- Answer and route incoming telephone calls using professional phone etiquette.
- Schedule and coordinate conference rooms and meeting spaces.
- Ensure conference rooms are organized and properly supplied before meetings.
- Follow established visitor, guest, and office security procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception and lobby area.
- Provide light hospitality support, including preparing coffee and water and coordinating food or beverage orders.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain organized common areas and workspaces.
- Provide general clerical and administrative support as needed.
- Assist with additional office duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor s degree preferred.
- Customer service experience required.
- Approximately 3 years of related business or office experience preferred.
- Administrative, receptionist, front desk, or switchboard experience strongly preferred.
- Law firm or legal office experience is a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Professional, proactive, friendly, and positive demeanor.
- Comfortable working with standard office and technical equipment.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily sedentary but requires occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Candidates must be able to lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assistance will be available for heavier items.
Dress Code
This position requires business professional attire. Appropriate attire includes professional shirts, blouses, trousers, slacks, skirts, dresses, and business or casual dress shoes.
Jeans, shorts, sweatpants, leggings, workout clothing, T-shirts, athletic shoes, sandals, open-toe shoes, and clothing with large graphics or inappropriate messaging are not permitted.
The workplace is a fragrance-free environment, and non-scented personal hygiene products are required.
