Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to support the Office of General Counsel (OGC). This position works closely with attorneys and administrative staff to provide legal and administrative support related to litigation, legal research, case management, document preparation, and court filings.
Position Summary
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Secretary will assist attorneys with a wide range of legal and administrative functions, including maintaining case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating court filings, conducting legal research, and supporting litigation activities in state and federal courts.
Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence and all relevant case materials for lawsuits in state and federal court.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents and court submissions.
- Draft legal documents, memoranda, and correspondence for attorney review.
- Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service of process.
- Arrange for the filing of legal memoranda, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Provide attorneys with supporting materials, resources, and case-related documentation.
- Conduct legal research, analyze findings, and prepare written and verbal summaries.
- Prepare litigation hold notices and assist with e-discovery searches, document collection, and case management activities.
- Maintain case files, legal records, calendars, and litigation databases.
- Track case status, court deadlines, docket activity, and final decisions.
- Compile, organize, and manage court documents, exhibits, and related records.
- Assist the General Counsel, Deputy Counsels, and Associate Counsels with confidential legal matters.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding legal matters and sensitive information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience providing legal administrative support in a law firm, corporate legal department, government agency, or related legal environment.
- Knowledge of litigation procedures in state and federal courts.
- Experience preparing legal correspondence, subpoenas, pleadings, memoranda, and court filings.
- Familiarity with legal research methods and legal document management practices.
- Experience maintaining case files, calendars, litigation databases, and docket tracking systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and legal case management systems.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
