Job Description

Los Angeles, CA (West LA) | Full-Time | On-Site

Compensation: $105,000 - $140,000 DOE

A busy plaintiff-side civil litigation practice in West Los Angeles is looking for a legal secretary to own the operational side of an active and growing docket. This is a high-responsibility, high-visibility role that puts you at the center of some of the most consequential plaintiff litigation in California right now, including active wildfire mass tort matters on behalf of real families who lost everything. If you have genuinely run discovery and managed deadlines for a demanding plaintiff's lawyer and are ready to do it again at scale, with the autonomy and direct access that comes from working closely with a single supervising attorney, this is the role.

What the role owns:

  • Calendaring and docket management across LASC, San Luis Obispo Superior Court, JAMS, and the Second Appellate District, including CMO compliance and Government Code 910 deadlines
  • Written discovery and responses under attorney direction, including production indices, privilege logs, meet-and-confer correspondence, and deficiency-cycle management
  • Third-party subpoena practice
  • Mass tort case management workflow including plaintiff fact sheets, damages and loss questionnaires at scale, and the Brown Greer portal
  • E-filing through One Legal, File and ServeXpress, TrueFiling, and the JAMS portal
  • Guardian ad Litem applications and Government Code 910 claims against public-entity defendants
  • Lien resolution, mediation and settlement support, expert document assembly, and client intake and onboarding
  • Secretarial and administrative support directly to the supervising attorney

What we need:

  • Five or more years of California civil litigation legal secretary experience on the plaintiff side
  • Real fluency with the Discovery Act and the California Rules of Court
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • California e-filing proficiency across multiple platforms
  • The organizational discipline to manage overlapping dockets without dropping anything

What sets a candidate apart:

  • Mass tort or multi-plaintiff litigation experience at scale, whether JCCP, federal MDL, or an analogous framework
  • Direct work with the Brown Greer portal or MDL Centrality
  • Plaintiff fact sheet workflow at scale
  • Document review platform experience, Relativity preferred
  • Lien resolution exposure across Medicare, Medi-Cal, ERISA, and hospital liens
  • Compensation scales significantly with mass tort and e-discovery platform experience

Benefits:

  • Blue Shield of California Platinum PPO
  • 401(k) with 3% employer match (eligible after one year)
  • Vacation accrual with increases tied to tenure
  • Paid parking
  • Monthly travel reimbursement

Logistics:

  • 100% in-office, West Los Angeles. Start date within 30 days preferred.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $140,000 DOE
