Job Title: Part Time Legal Writing Trainer (JD) Location: Andrews AFB, MD, United States Type: Short Term Project – September start date Compensation: $113.17/HR - $$150.12/HR on W2 Security Clearance: Ability to obtain or maintain a Public TrustResponsibilities
- Develop and deliver intensive in-person legal writing training focused on appellate advocacy skills for criminal cases at Joint Base Andrews and surrounding regions.
- Teach students how to analyze trial records, brainstorm case theories, and develop persuasive appellate strategies and storytelling techniques.
- Guide trainees in crafting compelling appellate briefs, including statements of facts, and incorporating visuals, language, and transitions that enhance persuasiveness.
- Create and customize curriculum content to meet training goals, providing interactive exercises and case-based applications.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to improve appellate advocacy skills.
- Coordinate training logistics, including session scheduling and participant management for approximately 6 trainees in September 2026.
- Prepare training materials that qualify for Continuing Legal Education credit, aligning with legal standards and best practices.
- JD from an accredited law school.
- At least 8 years of legal practice experience, with substantial appellate advocacy in criminal cases preferred.
- Prior teaching experience in appellate advocacy, mentorship, and providing constructive feedback is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct, mentor, and develop effective curriculum content.
- Strong communication, organizational, and curriculum development skills.
- Ability to work in person at Joint Base Andrews or within the National Capital Region.
