Overview
Job Description
- 30% Uses all facets of automated, integrated library system (ILS) including creating and maintaining accurate records for library users and materials, inventory control, report generation, OPAC displays, and tracking materials from acquisition through processing to end user.
- 25% Supports customer service delivery at the library. Assists students, faculty, staff, and the community in accessing library services in person, in writing, and by telephone. Communicates information regarding library procedures.
- 20% Demonstrates and explains use of equipment, databases, study rooms and printing (GoPrint), booking of library resources.
- 15% Trains and directs daily work flow of library clerks and work study students. Escalates issues to librarian as appropriate.
- 5% Develops marketing materials to promote library events and activities.
- 5% Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
- Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Education: (1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
- Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
- Other Skills: Ability to use computer systems to input data, prepare reports, and analyze data Sound decision-making skillsBasic problem-solving skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, ILS systems, OCLC and metadata
- Physical Requirements: The work requires the ability to push loaded book carts up to 50lbs, walking, sitting, stooping, and routinely lifting lightweight items.
- Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
