Job Title: Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Job Summary:

Licensed clinical psychologist (100%, full time appointment) in pediatric-onset and congenital heart disease. Primary Appointment is in the Section of Cardiology with a secondary appointment the Department of Psychiatry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evidence-based consultation, assessment, and individual/family intervention for patients followed by the Heart Institute.
  • Consultation with medical team in outpatient cardiology clinic and inpatient cardiac intensive care and progressive care units.
  • Pre-surgical psychology evaluations and post-surgical follow-up.
  • Group interventions for patients/families.
  • Family meetings with care team and medical team care conferences
  • Developing, enhancing, and contributing to existing clinical and research programs for cardiology populations.
  • Participating in formal training programs for psychological externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Maintaining an active commitment to providing care for individuals from diverse backgrounds and following families across the continuity of cardiology care at Children's Hospital Colorado Anschutz medical campus and its network of care and outreach sites.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

The Society of Thoracic Surgery requires a hospital to perform at least 250 heart surgeries per year to be considered a high-volume center. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

  • Completion or anticipated completion of a psychology postdoctoral fellowship.

  • Applicants must possess a Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of Colorado.

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

  • Must have prior experience in a pediatric health psychology setting.

Associate Professor:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

  • Completion or anticipated completion of a psychology postdoctoral fellowship.

  • Applicants must possess a Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of Colorado.

  • 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

  • Must have prior experience in a pediatric health psychology setting.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical and/or research experience with pediatric cardiology populations is strongly preferred

  • Experience in pediatric psychology teaching, program development, and research.

  • Experience and skill in multidisciplinary consulting with professional colleagues and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of evidence-based health and behavior assessment and intervention with children and adolescents in pediatric specialty care clinics

  • Ability to work across multiple subspecialties to coordinate care for patients

  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills, both orally and written.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $110,000 to $120,000

Associate Professor: $134,000 to $150,000

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
