Be part of a dedicated team committed to improving mental health outcomes in a challenging yet rewarding environment.Hourly Pay Rate: $75.00 - $90.00 DOEOverview: VHS is seeking qualified Licensed Mental Health Clinicians (LCSW or LPC) licensed in Alaska to deliver comprehensive mental health services in correctional settings. Under the supervision of the Facility Mental Health Clinician Supervisor, you will conduct assessments, provide individual and group therapy, and coordinate care to support the mental health needs of individuals in custody. This role involves collaboration with facility staff, participation in diagnostic conferences, and occasional telehealth services. The position offers a stable, long-term opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a unique environment dedicated to mental health advocacy and rehabilitation.Required Skills:
  • Valid Alaska licensure as an LCSW or LPC (temporary licenses accepted)
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Proven experience in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Strong therapeutic skills, including individual and group therapy
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain confidentiality with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and report-writing skills
  • Knowledge of mental health principles, behavior assessment, and treatment planning
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working in correctional or forensic settings
  • Knowledge of psychometric testing and neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote service delivery
  • Bilingual abilities or cultural competence in diverse populations
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Prior experience in mental health counseling, especially within correctional or community settings
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise or mentor lower-level clinicians
Other Requirements:
  • Must be licensed in Alaska (temporary licenses accepted)
  • Willingness to work shifts that include weekends and evenings as needed
  • Ability to travel occasionally for community outreach or home visits
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to state and federal mental health laws
