Job Description

This position is eligible for an up to $2000 bonus!

The LNA assists with routine nursing care, administers and documents medications during assigned medication passes, monitors student health status, and responds to health concerns during residential and evening hours. As a member of the Wellness Department and residential team, the LNA collaborates with nursing staff and program leadership to support medical coverage and continuity of care, including medication preparation within scope of practice, coordination of medical and allied health appointments, provision of first aid, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system in compliance with organizational policies.

How You'll Be Making a Difference

  • Assist the Registered Nurse in providing nursing care and supporting the ongoing health needs of residential and/or day students.
  • Obtain, monitor, and document routine health data, including vital signs, weights, and other assigned assessments.
  • Administer medications during assigned medication passes and accurately document administration in accordance with physician orders, nursing direction, and organizational policy.
  • Prepare medications in response to new or updated orders as directed and within scope of practice, including assisting with travel medication packaging.
  • Monitor students for medication side effects or changes in health status and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
  • Respond to observed or reported health concerns during assigned residential and evening shifts, providing first aid and coordinating care within scope of practice.
  • Conduct and document scheduled health assessments, including monthly measurements and screenings as assigned.
  • Accurately document all nursing care, medication administration, health observations, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR) system and complete required reports and logs, including nightly or shift-based summaries.
  • Track, monitor, and maintain required health screenings, medical documentation, and compliance records, and notify nursing staff of missing, incomplete, or outdated information.
  • Assist with preparation, organization, filing, and maintenance of student health records, including establishing new student files as directed.
  • Receive, inventory, store, and manage medications, medical supplies, and first aid kits across residential settings with limited direct supervision.
  • Check student medications in and ensure proper storage, security, and documentation during travel, transitions, and off-campus activities.
  • Facilitate and support student transportation to medical, dental, vision, laboratory, physical therapy, and specialty appointments as assigned.
  • Communicate student health concerns clearly, accurately, and professionally to nursing staff and program leadership to support continuity of care and informed decision-making.
  • Prioritize work assignments based on student health needs, safety considerations, and program demands during residential and evening hours.
  • Support residential programming and collaborate with program leadership and direct care staff during crisis situations to reduce impact and maintain student safety.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Manager and nursing staff to support health promotion initiatives, including hygiene education, hydration awareness, and wellness-focused activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student health information and comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

LNA Skills

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of relevant nursing care
  • Ability to work with population of children in residential treatment
  • Friendly and professional bedside manner
  • Maintains current CPR & /First Aid certification
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
  • Understands legal implications of patient care

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in human services or a related field required. A high school diploma or equivalent may be accepted with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience working with children in a childcare, residential, educational, or therapeutic setting.
  • Current Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required

Physical Requirements

  • The position requires the ability to walk the rugged terrain of the NH campus, an active wooded setting. The ability to bend, hold and lift is also required as indicated by TCI behavioral management techniques.
