Lawton Indian Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The LPN is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care, administering medications and treatments, assisting with examinations and procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation while adhering to Indian Health Service (Client) policies and federal healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Assess and monitor patient conditions, obtain vital signs, and promptly report significant changes to the supervising RN or provider.
  • Administer prescribed medications, injections, immunizations, IV therapy (within scope of practice), and other treatments safely and accurately.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, specimen collection, and other clinical procedures.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations, diagnostic tests, and minor procedures.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, medications, and treatment plans accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, disease management, preventive care, and discharge instructions.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control practices in compliance with OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Registered Nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Monitor medical equipment and maintain adequate supplies in patient care areas.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and assist with emergency interventions as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN/LVN) program.
  • Current, unrestricted LPN license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent.
  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, medical-surgical, or outpatient setting is preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) is preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and nursing procedures.

Schedule

  • Shift: 8-hour Day Shift
  • Schedule: 5 days per week (40 hours/week)

Required Credentials

  • Active LPN License
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA or equivalent)
