Licensed Psychiatrist

Experience working with an acute and chronic adult inpatient population is required, and forensicpopulation.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment ofmedical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population. Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner. Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mentalstatus examination) and entering admission orders. Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures. Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriatefollow-up or referrals as needed. Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status. Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that arevalid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment. Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process iscompleted. Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions. Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patientrecords in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.• Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)• Initial Appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3 -6-month assignment, if the position remains unfilled• Full-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with 1 hour lunchbreak, no alternative schedules accepted• NOT approved for overtime• No weekends, no holidays, no on-call duty• Ability to provide cross coverage, to include forensic populations, as required• Once a month, participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
