Job Description

Join our team as a Life Enrichment Coordinator and help create meaningful experiences for residents through dynamic programs, events, and community partnerships. This role focuses on increasing resident engagement, coordinating activities, and supporting a vibrant lifestyle within our senior living community.

Summary of Responsibilities:

In support of all elements of The Highlands' Wellness Philosophy (ENGAGE), the Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and increasing participation in residential programming. The Life Enrichment Coordinator collaborates with other team members and departments to provide regular community-wide programming.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Develop, implement and execute programming opportunities, through fostering public relations with residents and external community groups, in accordance with The Highlands' Wellness Philosophy (ENGAGE) to ensure a diversity of offerings that meets current and future resident's preferences.
  • Supports all programs, through a customer service focused culture, by serving as a liaison to ensure resident or 3rd party vendor needs are met to successfully complete a program including programs that occur at night or weekends.
  • Oversees the internal resident portal including onboarding new residents, advertising current and future opportunities, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and timely posted.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate completion, distribution, and coordination of advertisements for program opportunities, calendars, newsletter, schedules, records, and reports.
  • Ensures all programming opportunities align with the programming budget and when necessary, submitting accurate capital and operating budget requests and submitting vendor invoices.
  • Plans and implements strategies to improve procedures and processes to transform the resident experience.
  • Serves as a liaison to Residents' Council committees and participates actively in the Wellness Team (ENGAGE).
  • Addresses resident issues and special requests, providing personalized support when necessary.
  • Participate in and complete all required ongoing training, including monthly online and in-person training, annual skills competencies education, and role-specific certifications, to ensure continued competence and adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.

  • Demonstrates strong relationship-building skills with senior adults and exhibits a proactive work ethic, capable of functioning independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Proficient in technology, including MS Office, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience in high-profile, confidential support roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with residents/clients, supervisors and co-workers using understandable language skills in reading, writing, and speaking in person and on the phone.
  • Excellent oral communication skills including a clear speaking voice

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time, hourly position.
  • This position works a flexible schedule, based upon the programming schedule, to ensure programming options are available for residents throughout the day and seven days a week (i.e., working evenings, weekends, a split shift). Work during inclement weather will be required.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or a combination of education and significant experience (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years' experience working with senior adults (Preferred)
  • Basic First Aid (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Completion of the Highlands Hearthstone Ambassador training within 30 days of employment (Required)

Work Authorization/Security Clearances:

  • Medical Screening
  • Criminal History Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Only required if you have not lived in PA for the last 2 years)
  • Immigration and naturalization (I-9) Clearance

Physical Requirements and Physical Demands:

  • Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
  • Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
  • Writing: Must be able to accurately document pertinent information either by writing or typing.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • This position is continuously required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position is frequently required to climb, bend, crawl, lift above shoulders and head; lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs., lift objects in excess of 100 lbs.
  • This position is occasionally required to crouch, squat, kneel, balance, pull with force, reach above head and shoulder, lift from floor level up, lift from waist level up; lift, push, and pull with assistance (mechanical or co-worker) the weight of the average patient specific to department; lift 50 lbs. max.
