About the Role
The Line / Prep Cook supports daily meal production in a skilled nursing facility setting, ensuring meals are prepared accurately, safely, and on time. You'll work closely with the Dietary Manager and team to meet resident dietary needs, including modified textures and therapeutic diets.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes
Support timely meal service for residents, including special and modified diets
Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
Receive, store, and rotate food deliveries according to food safety standards
Monitor food storage areas for proper temperatures, cleanliness, and organization
Assist with routine kitchen inspections and regulatory compliance as needed
Help test and prepare new recipes when requested
Provide guidance and support to cook aides and dish aides as needed

Requirements
One year of cooking experience in a high-volume or institutional setting preferred
Food Handler's Permit required (or ability to obtain)
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to assist and guide dietary aides as needed
Positive attitude with a focus on respectful, efficient service
Desire to learn, grow, and develop within a healthcare culinary environment
