Looking for a summer job that truly makes a difference? The Allen County Public Library is hiring a LINK Assistant to support our LINK program by helping serve free lunches and snacks to children and families in our community.

Through a partnership with Fort Wayne Community Schools, this role plays a vital behind-the-scenes and front-line role in ensuring meals are served accurately, safely, and with care. If you're detail-oriented, dependable, and enjoy supporting meaningful work with kids, this could be a great summer opportunity.

What You'll Do

Serve free lunches and snacks to children and teens (up to age 18)
Carefully follow food service guidelines provided by Fort Wayne Community Schools and the USDA
Accurately track meal counts, participation statistics, and required documentation
Support the LINK Programmer during after-lunch activities and programs
Help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all participants
Interact positively with children and families while ensuring program expectations are met

What We're Looking For

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
Comfortable handling routine, documentation, and tracking counts
Kind, empathetic, and respectful toward children and families from diverse and lower socioeconomic backgrounds
Reliable, organized, and able to work consistently in a structured environment
Enjoys working with youth and supporting a team-focused program

Schedule & Location

Monday–Friday
Daytime hours
Georgetown Branch
Seasonal summer position

Availability Requirement

This position works Monday–Friday during daytime hours in June and July. Because LINK is a short, time-limited program, we ask that employees plan to be available for the full duration of the program.
