Job Description

Founded in 1920, Akerman is one of the nation's premier law firms, with more than 700 lawyers across the United States.

Akerman LLP is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our Delaware office. This role is ideal for an early-career paralegal with 2-3 years of litigation experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting attorneys and clients in a dynamic litigation practice. This is a hybrid position with the requirement to work in the office at minimum three (3) days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys through all phases of litigation.
  • Prepare and organize pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery, and case files.
  • Coordinate court filings and maintain litigation calendars and deadlines.
  • Assist with document review, production, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct factual research and support case management activities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, courts, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to meet client and practice needs.
  • Manage competing priorities and respond to time-sensitive matters.
  • Provide support to teams outside DE on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certificate, associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior law firm litigation experience required.
  • Experience supporting matters before the Delaware Court of Chancery is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal technology tools.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexible and responsive, with a willingness to work additional hours when necessary to meet court deadlines, trial schedules, and client needs.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to exceptional client service.
  • Experience supporting bankruptcy matters or filings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
  • Notary experience or a willingness to become a notary.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, has strong attention to detail and is eager to develop professionally. They thrive in a team-oriented environment, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and maintain a positive, service-focused approach. Candidates with experience supporting Delaware Court of Chancery litigation, complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, or filings in Delaware state or federal courts are strongly encouraged to apply.

Akerman offers a collaborative culture, professional development opportunities, and a competitive compensation and benefits package. Qualified candidates should submit a resume and salary requirements for consideration. (EOE)
