Job Description

We are driven to do more. More for our customers and the financial professionals who offer our products. If you are driven to do more and love the challenge of pursuing more, Athene is your kind of company. You will find we offer more than the basics to create an inclusive and dynamic work environment at our various locations.

Purpose:

Athene is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our Legal team and play a key role in supporting high-impact litigation and dispute matters across the organization. This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful work, partner closely with experienced attorneys, and contribute to the successful management of complex legal issues in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

In this role, you will work directly with the Head of Litigation and serve as a trusted partner in driving cases forward-from initial intake through resolution. You'll manage your own docket, coordinate with outside counsel, and lead critical processes such as discovery, subpoenas, and legal holds.

We're seeking someone who thrives on organization, takes initiative, and enjoys balancing multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work. If you're looking to grow your legal career in a dynamic in-house setting where your contributions are visible and valued, this role offers a strong platform to do just that.

Accountabilities:

  • Drive and support all phases of litigation-from intake through discovery and resolution-ensuring matters progress efficiently and on schedule

  • Lead document preservation efforts and manage legal hold processes to ensure compliance and defensibility across matters

  • Maintain organized case files, matter summaries, and tracking systems; proactively monitor deadlines and keep stakeholders informed

  • Partner closely with outside counsel to coordinate case strategy, document production, and key deliverables

  • Own and manage the company's subpoena process end-to-end, including intake, response coordination, and timely document production

  • Support financial oversight of litigation matters by tracking budgets, accruals, and insurance-related reporting

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred, with 4+ years of litigation support experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

  • Demonstrated experience supporting all phases of litigation, including discovery, subpoenas, document production, and case management, with proficiency in legal document management systems and e-discovery tools

  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, internal stakeholders, and outside counsel

  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally while exercising sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information

$82,645.60 - $123,968.40 USD Annual

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
