Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to support legal team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves variety in their work, and is looking to grow with a firm invested in professional development and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Client Support
- Assist attorneys in all phases law cases.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery documents, financial affidavits, and settlement agreements.
- Organize and maintain case files with timely and accurate court filings.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing updates and gathering information.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, hearings, depositions, and mediations.
Legal Research & Document Preparation
- Conduct research on relevant laws, case law, and legal articles.
- Prepare trial exhibits, timelines, and summaries.
- Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including assembling evidence and witness materials.
Administrative & Office Support
- Maintain and monitor attorney calendars and case deadlines.
- Coordinate with courts and opposing counsel for filings and scheduling.
- Track billable time accurately and assist in client billing processes.
- Draft internal and external correspondence and maintain documentation standards.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 3–5 years of paralegal or high-level legal assistant experience.
- Familiarity with Maine court rules and procedures highly valued.
Education:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong legal drafting, writing, and research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal practice management software (Clio experience is a plus).
- Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple cases at once.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, positive attitude with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
