Livestock Driver (Albin, WY)

Description

The Livestock Driver is responsible for loading and transporting pigs safely and efficiently, providing timely delivery to the transfer station and farms. The position also involves hauling feed from time to time. This role must safely and professionally operate a company-owned and provided commercial motor vehicle and maintain compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

Duties & Functions:

• Operate tractor/trailer in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Effectively communicate with dispatch as required.
• Physically meet the demands of required duties as described in the Physical Requirements section of this Job Profile.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on truck/trailer to ensure DOT standards are met and detect defects that may affect the safe operation of the unit; perform in-route inspections as needed
• Report any defects or problems with the truck/trailers to the appropriate individuals.
• Maintain all required paperwork associated with each load.
• Review paperwork to determine the nature of the load, customer location, delivery route and that the delivery time corresponds with dispatch instructions.
• Comply with all company and customer requirements on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Properly maintain all records required by the company as well as governmental agencies.
• Report all accidents and/or work-related injuries (regardless of severity) to the appropriate manager.
• Maintain proper communication with manager on status.

Work Environment:

• Drivers may spend 10% to 30% of their time outdoors exposed to potentially difficult environmental conditions.
• Drivers may be subject to irregular work schedules, weather extremes, short notice for trip assignments, tight delivery schedules, and other stresses related to driving a large commercial motor vehicle.
• Drivers typically spend 80 to 90% of on-duty time in the truck.
• While driving, operators are exposed to noise and vibration levels that may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required.

Compensation:

Targeted pay range of $22.00-$30.50 USD per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
