Job Description

Joining our client's team means becoming part of a collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community that supports each other across domestic design centers to create cutting-edge products for global markets. You'll have a mentor to guide you as a crucial member of the design team.

As an entry-level engineer, you will focus on designing and developing SOI RFICs for mobile handset applications.

  • Collaborate with a team of analog/RF IC design experts to develop cellular-band RFICs featuring integrated LNA cores, RF switches, attenuators, controllers, and various RF and analog components.
  • Work with system engineers and module design teams to create detailed specifications, report design progress, and address performance and circuit design issues.

Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Design Knowledge: Experience with transistor-level CMOS or SOI RFIC design.
  • Physics: Basic understanding of device physics.
  • Modeling and Simulation: Ability to develop and use advanced linear and nonlinear models and simulation techniques, translating between models, simulations, physical implementations, and device performance.
  • Optimization: Skill in optimizing RFIC performance using RF and microwave engineering principles.
  • Tools and Techniques: Proficiency with simulation tools, analog and RF circuit test characterization techniques, and equipment.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress, adhering to schedules, and collaborating effectively.
  • RF/Microwave Fundamentals: In-depth understanding of impedance matching, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, circuit stability, and electromagnetic theory.
  • Experience: Relevant experience with micro-strip/strip line stack up, laminate/multi-chip module (MCM), PA, LNA, RF switch design, or passive circuit design such as integrated passive devices, couplers, and baluns.
  • Simulation Skills: Expertise in using Agilent ADS, 2.5/3D EM tools like Momentum/EMX/Sonnet, HFSS/CST, and Cadence, with the ability to translate between model, simulation, physical implementation, and measured performance.
  • Lab Skills: Strong laboratory skills in data collection/analysis, debugging/tuning, and product troubleshooting.
  • Personal Traits: A self-starter and team player with a strong desire to learn on the job.
  • Commitment: A dedicated individual committed to taking products from concept to volume production.
Starting base pay will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, business needs, market demands, job responsibilities, and work location. The client offers varying base pay ranges for different U.S. locations. Benefits include healthcare options (with a premium-free medical plan), a 401(k) plan with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, and paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness days, and parental leave). Employees can also participate in an incentive plan, and some roles qualify for additional awards like recognition and stock, all based on individual and/or company performance.
