JOB SUMMARY
The Loan Officer will play a pivotal role in attracting, expanding, and maintaining a diverse portfolio of customers for the Bank. This position involves daily direct interaction with customers in different capacities, aiming to comprehend their distinct needs and requirements. The Loan Officer will be dedicated to delivering personalized banking solutions, intricately tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer and deposit growth. Serving as a crucial link between customers and Bank operational and lending teams, the Loan Officer will ensure the seamless provision of products and services, consistently upholding the highest standards of customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Exemplifies superior customer service through personal conduct and ensures its reinforcement with both customers and employees through effective follow-up.
Periodically organizes targeted meetings and presentations on this crucial aspect, involving all staff members.
Expected to actively engage in business development activities, including soliciting new customers, driving deposit growth through new and existing relationships, and promoting the banks' personal and business service solutions.
Meet with customers to discuss unique needs and requirements.
Recommend appropriate banking products and service solutions that are specifically tailored for each customer.
Act as the main point of contact and provide comprehensive and knowledgeable advice as a trusted consultative financial advisor.
Place the customer's best interest first.
Expand customer relationships through introductions with various banking areas and personnel.
Investigate and follow up on significant changes in the status of existing customers and solve any issues or problems, as necessary.
Provide supervision and support to all areas of the department where service or assistance is needed.
Monitor and manage staff in daily tasks, operations, and quality control.
Coordinate and assist auditors/regulators and reports to audit committee as needed.
Participate in community affairs, business, and service organizations, including public speaking.
Assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations.
Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
A bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field is preferred; Five (5) years of related experience and/or training in credit decision making, private bank lending sales, portfolio management, and supervisory skills is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A background in Ag lending, including farm credit analysis is highly desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Basic experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
Experience, knowledge and training in all lending and operations activities and terminology.
Knowledge and training in progressively responsible bank administration, management, and supervisory activities.
Skills to develop marketing and business development skills.
Ability to cross-sell and explain all Bank products and services with confidence and authority.
Knowledge of financial products and services, including, but not limited to consumer and commercial banking products and services, trust, brokerage and investments, insurance, etc.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
Basic knowledge of human resources and labor laws and policies preferred.
Intermediate skills in computer typing and personal computer operation; word processing, spreadsheets, and specialty software programs; and intermediate math skills.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to deal with problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
This position has supervisory responsibilities. The role will also be expected to interact daily with management, coworkers, and customers.
