Job Description
- Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects.
- Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters.
- Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints.
- Explains company rules, rates and policies. Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations.
- In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation.
- Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services.
- Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses.
- Patrols lines and trims trees.
- Climbs poles and assists line crews.
- Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year experience as a journeyman line technician
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
- This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA (Part 382) and PHMSA (Part 199) regulations.
- Reasonable knowledge of service work ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision
- Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance
- An understanding of company Safety Rules, Operating Practices and State Codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance.
- Demonstrated sense of responsibility to the company and the public.
- Some supervisory ability.
- Employee must live in the community being served and possess the ability to win and hold the respect and approval of the community.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
