Job Description

Job SummaryIn an assigned outlying gas and electric area away from the district office to promote the interests, uphold prestige, interpret and apply policies, improve public relations, and maintain company property.

What you will do

Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects.
Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters.
Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints.
Explains company rules, rates and policies. Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations.
In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation.
Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services.
Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses.
Patrols lines and trims trees.
Climbs poles and assists line crews.
Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent

Required Experience

1 year experience as a journeyman line technician

Other Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA (Part 382) and PHMSA (Part 199) regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Reasonable knowledge of service work ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision
Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance
An understanding of company Safety Rules, Operating Practices and State Codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance.
Demonstrated sense of responsibility to the company and the public.
Some supervisory ability.
Employee must live in the community being served and possess the ability to win and hold the respect and approval of the community.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
