Respiratory Therapist

Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field

Certifications Requirements:

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification*
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification*
Respiratory Therapist (RT) credential or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) license

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting*
Proficiency in using HMS/MedHost EMR system*
Experience with updraft therapy, blood gases, BIPAP/CPAP, ventilators, and EKGs

Other Requirements:

Ability to work independently, sometimes being the only RT on site*
Excellent communication and patient care skills*
Must be comfortable working in rotating 36/48 hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends

Job Responsibilities

Provide respiratory care services, including updraft therapy, blood gases, BIPAP/CPAP, and ventilator management*
Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust treatments accordingly*
Document patient care activities accurately in HMS/MedHost EMR system*
Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans*
Educate patients and their families on respiratory therapies and equipment usage
