LOCUM – Cardiothoracic Surgeon ($456/hour)Hartford, Connecticut Start Date: February / March 2026 Hospital-Based | OR, ICU, Rounding | Call Required

365 Healthcare is seeking a LOCUM Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage at a hospital-based, Level I trauma center in Hartford, Connecticut. This opportunity includes weekday daytime coverage with inpatient OR, ICU, and rounding responsibilities, along with night and weekend call coverage, and offers a competitive hourly rate of $456/hour, along with lodging and travel coverage, rental car or mileage reimbursement, and malpractice insurance included.

Schedule Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hospital-based inpatient coverage

Night and weekend call required

Approximate call frequency: 7–8 calls per month

Call shared among 3 providers

Practice Details Hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery service

Inpatient coverage including OR, ICU, ER, and floor rounding

Average case volume: ~2 cases per day

Level I Trauma Center

Annual ER volume: ~85,000 visits

Number of operating rooms: 3

Full complement of ancillary staff

Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients

EMR: Epic

Estimated credentialing timeframe: 30–45 days

Clinical Responsibilities Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery coverage

Operative cases and postoperative management

ICU and floor rounding

Emergency and consult coverage during call

Collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical and ICU teams

Required Procedures Descending aortic aneurysm repair

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), including off-pump CABG

Redo coronary revascularization

Arterial revascularization using internal mammary, radial, and gastroepiploic arteries

Thoracic aortic aneurysm repair

Heart valve repair and replacement

Mitral valve repair

CoreValve® procedures

Tube thoracostomy

Pericardial window procedures

Qualifications Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery

Active Connecticut medical license (local providers only)

BLS and ACLS certification

Clean background with no malpractice history

NPDB self-query required at time of presentation

Must be able to follow required rate structure
