Job Description

LOCUM – Orthopedic Surgeon (General Orthopedics) ($400/hour)Mason City, Iowa Start Date: March 2026 Clinic + OR + Trauma Call | Specific Date Coverage Required

365 Healthcare is seeking a LOCUM Orthopedic Surgeon to provide general orthopedic and trauma coverage in Mason City, Iowa. This assignment includes clinic coverage, operative cases, inpatient rounding, and 24-hour on call.

This opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate of $400/hour, along with lodging and travel coverage, rental car or mileage reimbursement, and malpractice insurance included.

Schedule & Coverage

Clinic coverage: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

24-hour orthopedic call coverage

Post-call follow-up clinic for assigned patients

Inpatient rounding and ED consults included

Practice Details

Hospital-based orthopedic service

Trauma Level III designation

Team includes 4 orthopedic surgeons and 7 APPs

APP supervision required

OR, nursing, and cast tech support available

Average hospital census: ~160 patients/day (consult-driven)

Teaching opportunities with IM, FM residents, and PA students

EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

General orthopedic surgery

Trauma and fracture care

Inpatient rounding and ED consults

Orthopedic call coverage

Surgical procedures including:

Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements
Hand, wrist, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and foot surgery
Sports medicine and trauma-related procedures

Rates & Call Structure

Hourly rate: $400/hour

Overtime, night call, and 24-hour call rates apply

Malpractice insurance included

Qualifications

Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery (BE not accepted)

Active Iowa license or IMLC LOQ

Clean malpractice and background history

Must be able to cover both required date blocks

Experience performing full-scope general orthopedic procedures

NPDB self-query required at time of presentation
