Job Description

LOCUM – Hematology / Oncology Physician ($456/hour)Des Moines, Iowa Start Date: ASAP Inpatient & Outpatient Coverage | Call Required

365 Healthcare is seeking a LOCUM Hematology / Oncology Physician to provide medical hematology and oncology coverage across inpatient and outpatient settings in Des Moines, Iowa, including coverage at multiple hospital campuses and limited regional outreach. This opportunity includes clinic-based care, inpatient consults, shared call responsibilities, and telehealth services.

This assignment offers a competitive hourly rate of $456/hour, along with lodging and travel coverage, rental car or mileage reimbursement, and malpractice insurance included.

Practice Details

Medical Hematology and Oncology coverage

Combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient consult service

Coverage required at two hospital locations

Limited outreach coverage (approximately 6 days per month)

Telehealth services included

Clinic daily volume: 10–30 patients

Average inpatient census: 10–15 patients

Appointment times:• New consults – 40 minutes• Follow-ups – 20 minutes

Nursing support: 1:1

Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available

EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology patient care

New patient evaluations and treatment planning

Ongoing management and modification of treatment plans

Chemotherapy management

Inpatient hematology/oncology consults

Pain and symptom management

End-of-life and palliative care coordination

Referral coordination with radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and ancillary services

Call & Coverage

Call required (schedule TBD)

Weekend coverage as needed

24-hour call coverage as applicable

Qualifications

Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology

Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology

Active Iowa medical license or IMLC LOQ

Prior hematology/oncology experience required

Willingness to cover multiple hospital sites

Clean malpractice and background history

NPDB self-query required at time of presentation
